10 kilometers (6.2 miles) through the streets of Boulder.
USATF course certification #CO-05011-DP
The Course starts at 5,306 feet, reaches its highest point just after the 4-mile mark at 5,391 feet, and finishes in Folsom Field at 5,343 feet. Along the course and in the stadium there are hundreds of volunteers working to make your race fun and safe. During the race most of you can simply follow the people in front of you. If you're leading the pack, the course marshals will direct you at every turn.
There will be large overhead banners at or very near each kilometer (one through nine) and mile (one through six) along the course. They can help you determine your pace and how far you've gone. (If you see kilometer 11 or mile 7, you've gone too far.) If you want to know your pace, remember to wear a watch and look for the kilometer and mile marker banners.
Keep Drinking. Water and Gatorade are available at miles 2, 3, 4 and 5. The weather may be hot (it's only rained three times on race morning in 20 years - '84, '92, and '95). Even if it's not hot, drink! Or just dump some water on your head.
Help your fans see you. Tell them some of the best areas for watching along the course are Glenwood between 23rd and 20th, and on Folsom from Walnut to Stadium Road (the entrance into the CU campus). Of course, there are plenty of seats to watch all the finishers inside the stadium, too.
